May 13th - "Raising Girls" with Elaine Collin, looking at how to grow resilient girls through building competence, confidence, compassion and connectedness, exploring with you your hopes and dreams for your daughter, and how to help her navigate her way and thrive in an ever-changing, unpredictable and challenging world.

May 20th - "Raising Boys" with Dr Tim Hawkes ,helping us to discover the ten key conversations you must have with your son.

May 27th - "Big Picture Parents" where author, Harriet Connor, will share Biblical wisdom and big picture vision, to help parents gain clarity and confidence in parenting - ancient wisdom for modern life!

The first three of our learned speakers are part of our church community and all four speakers come with considerable experience in their respective fields.

No need to register, just come along.

Whether you choose to come to one, more, or all, these seminars provide not only an opportunity to spend time considering the why and how of parenting, but also an easy invite for your friends, to come and hear parenting advice that is both practical and also shaped by the Bible.

About Our Speakers

Keith Condie: Keith has worked in child welfare for the State government, in pastoral ministry in churches, and in theological education. He is now a Co-Director of the Mental Health & Pastoral Care Institute at Anglican Deaconess Ministries (ADM). He believes that being a parent is a joyful and inspiring privilege and that wise parenting brings great benefits to children and society more generally. Keith is married to Sarah and they have three adult children.

Elaine Collin: Elaine Collin has a passion for educating girls, nurturing their potential and growing confident young women of grace and character. An experienced educator, Elaine has spent nearly 30 years in senior leadership roles in Christian girls’ schools, serving 11 years at Abbotsleigh as Head of Mathematics and then as Deputy Headmistress, then as Principal of Roseville College for 7 years and PLC Melbourne for 11 years. Elaine and her husband Richard are both active members of St Augustine’s Church in Neutral Bay.

Dr Tim Hawkes: Dr Tim Hawkes is an educator, social commentator and author.  He was the Headmaster of Kings School, Parramatta for nearly 20 years before retiring in 2017.  Tim has authored many books including “Boy Oh Boy: How to raise and educate a son” and “Ten conversations you must have with your son”.  Tim is married to Jane and they have three adult children and a number of grandchildren.  Tim and Jane are both active members of Church by the Bridge in Kirribilli.

Harriet Connor: Harriet had two uni degrees and over ten years' experience working with children, but neither prepared her for the shock of parenthoood. When she was overwhelmed by feelings of guilt, fear and confusion, Harriet turned to the ancient wisdom of the Bible. This helped her to step back from the daily dilemmas to consider what parenthood is really all about. She now shares this "big picture" vision with other parents to help them gain clarity and confidence in their parenting.
